We hear a lot about communication and boundaries and healthy relationships, but not as much about how to actually cultivate these things. A major missing piece of the puzzle is the body and the way that our bodies interact with other people’s bodies. And the fact that the body stores memories and can sometimes react from a place of history and not reality.

Why do we need body awareness? What might lead us to disconnect from our bodies? Why are boundaries more of a somatic concept than an intellectual one? How do we cultivate safety in our bodies and then allow these feelings of safety and acceptance to ripple outwards into our surrounding relationships?

These are some of the questions that we will answer together in this workshop. This workshop will be a co-creation between facilitator and participant, the same way that relationships are a co-creation. Body awareness is a fundamentally important part of relationship, and can prevent all kinds of conflict. And beyond that, can foster a deeper sense of belonging and safety.

The work of getting to know ourselves deeply is an ever-evolving and lifelong process, but it often begins with finding stillness, through meditation or time in nature. Movement and music and touch are also important components of increased body awareness and developing safety and building trust.

In this workshop we will discuss what blocks connection and interferes with communication and our ability to give and receive love and care. We will work in community and use somatic practices to connect with ourselves and with each other.

This workshop is open to any and everyone.
