Are your hormones ruling your life?
We all have the power to sync our hormones with the rhythms of nature through the simple (but not always easy) practice of paying mindful attention to our daily routines.
We use the phrase “hormonal imbalance” to describe health concerns ranging from reproduction and fertility, fatigue and burnout, sleep and circadian rhythms, digestion and appetite, and more. Although these vital chemicals help make our bodies run day and night, they are not very well understood.
In this four-week series, we’ll use techniques from yoga asana, Ayurveda, meditation, and pranayama to explore the natural phases of hormonal rise and fall over the course of a lunar month.
Lessons include:
Movement and breath practices to work with the energy of our fluctuating cycles
Rituals for honoring the phases of the moon and connecting to the divine feminine within all of us
Daily and seasonal practices for deep rest and rejuvenation
You’ll come away with practical tools for self-regulation and self-awareness, as well as ways to incorporate ritual and rest for maintaining hormonal “balance,” not as a fixed state but as a fluctuating anchor for the here and now.
From the quiet, dark place of wisdom in the new moon, through the propulsion and intensity of the full moon, and back, the lunar phases offer moments for us to reflect on our constantly changing nature, and build resilience for those changes that have become inextricable from pandemic life.
Each class will incorporate a combination of gentle yoga-inspired movement, breathwork (accessible for all levels), and discussion or time for Q&A. No prior knowledge of yoga or Ayurveda is required.
While we will focus on the cycles of the female body’s hormones, this course is open to all gender identities looking for a more intuitive relationship with and resilience for enduring—and enjoying—the tides of our lives.
Please let Jennifer know if you are pregnant or have been recently pregnant, or have other health concerns.
