Recordings available for practice on your own time!

This series will focus on the fundamental postures of yoga (asana) and basic movements for spinal and joint health. Students will come away with a strong base of understanding to build a personal yoga practice at home.

Together we will learn a basic yoga sequence to build on based on what is needed in the moment. Basic to advanced variations will be offered for all postures so you can modify your practice for what suits you best.

This is an interactive movement class with plenty of time to workshop in the poses and discuss. A portion of the class will be fully-guided as a moving meditation.

Topics will include:

  • Side Body Opening
  • Backbends and Forward Folds
  • Twists
  • Basic Inversions

Suitable for all levels from those just getting introduced to those who are already alignment “junkies”!

About Allison Joy

Allison Joy has always been interested in yoga and meditation. After several years of practice at studios in NYC and an unavoidable curiosity in the dharma, she completed her first teacher training focused on Vinyasa yoga and Shamatha meditation in 2015 and has been learning ever since. She advanced her studies with teachers worldwide. Her specific focus is on Ayurvedic Astrology, Core Strength, Restorative Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and sacred primary texts. She has extensively studied Tibetan Buddhism and learned from many master teachers of this tradition. Having completed several yoga teacher trainings, she began training teachers in various capacities in 2019, and has opened two yoga centers in NYC. She now focuses exclusively on online training and community-building.

The pinnacle of Allison Joy's studies came on retreat to South India to study ancient Ayurvedic Yoga with Sarah Tomlinson, with whom she has completed a year-long private apprenticeship and with whom she continues to study ongoing. Through her teacher's incredible generosity of wisdom, time, and joyful effort Allison Joy offers Ayurvedic Birth Chart analysis and Yantra Readings.
