Buddhism 101: Applied Meditation

Buddha was asked “What have you gained from meditation?” He replied, “Nothing!” Then he continued, “However, let me tell you what I have lost: anger, anxiety, depression, insecurity, and fear of old age and death.”

Meditation practice allows you to create a pause in your busy life. It’s a way to step into a state of self-awareness and appreciation of all that surrounds you.

In this series, Elizabete will guide you deep into the stages of meditation and how to achieve single-pointed focus, including technique, styles, and practical tools you can immediately incorporate into your practice. You will be guided to explore ways meditation can ease stress, clear the mind, soothe the senses, and help you be fully-present in the unfolding of your life.

We will use the traditional Buddhist texts:

The Great Book on the Steps of the Path (Lam-Rim Chen-mo) by Je Tsongkapa (1357-1419)

and

How to Meditate: A Practical Guide to Making Friends with Your Mind by Pema Chodron
